Interim CIO helps Remeo maintain IT continuity and accelerate progress
In times of change, rapid response and the right expertise make all the difference. When Remeo faced the departure of its IT Manager, Greenstep’s Interim CIO took charge of project progress and the ongoing development of IT.
Remeo is a Finnish circular economy company that provides waste collection and reception services, and processes and sells waste as new resources for industrial needs.
“We had previously collaborated with Greenstep at the group level, so deepening the partnership in this situation felt like a natural next step. When our IT Manager moved on to new opportunities, we chose Ville because we were looking for a consultant who could bring insight into advancing Remeo’s IT capabilities and who had broad experience from different organizations,” says Remeo’s CFO, Eeva Vaajoensuu.
A skilled Interim consultant ensures a smooth transition
The collaboration got off to a quick start: just a few days after the selection, Ville was already on-site familiarizing himself with the tasks alongside his predecessor. The experienced consultant quickly took charge of the situation and brought valuable insights to IT development.

With strict security regulations in place, there was plenty to improve, and many implementations were still unfinished when he arrived. Remeo and Greenstep agreed that the Interim CIO would work part-time during the transition period. Because clear priorities were set at the start, the arrangement proved effective. Alongside IT projects, Ville played an active role in recruiting a new full-time hire.
“Without an external consultant, I wouldn’t have initiated the search for a new IT leader. Ville had a clear vision of how Remeo’s IT should develop, and we incorporated these insights into the recruitment process. By defining our needs correctly, finding the right profile became much easier,” Eeva summarizes.
